Welcome

Election observation is a valuable tool for improving the quality of elections. Observers help build public confidence in the honesty of electoral processes.

Observation can help promote and protect the rights of all participants in elections. It can lead to the correction of errors or weak practices, even while an election process is still under way. When observers issue positive reports, it builds trust in the democratic process. Following elections, reports and recommendations by observer groups can lead to changes and improvements in processes over time into the next election cycle.

Through the Election Watch campaign, the observer network of organisations and individuals that will be built in 2024, can be strengthened in a lead up to the 2026 and 2029 elections in South Africa.

Election observation is a form of active citizenship. Join us to observe and monitor elections to uphold democracy!
